Late Start
Late Buses: A train stopped on the tracks for several minutes in Marysville at the first and fourth street crossings prevented buses from getting to their destinations. This caused some buses serving elementary and middle schools to be delayed. The train has now moved and buses are delivering students home.

We want to inform you of a situation that may impact our schools with questions and concerns. Marysville 911 has received several calls regarding an armed individual near school campuses in Marysville. While Marysville Police Department will continue investigating, they and the Mount Vernon Police Department believe these are intentional false reports similar to the "swatting" that occurred around the region several weeks ago.  There is no known threat to our schools. We will remain vigilant and continue to work with the Marysville Police Department for the safety and well-being of our students and staff. These calls are from a female and originate from Mount Vernon. Mount Vernon Police Department is investigating to determine the origin of the calls. These incidents are happening with more frequency across the country. It is an intentionally false report with seemingly specific information about an active shooter situation. These are extremely concerning and a reminder of how important it is to verify facts before sharing information about a reported threat.

AVID Family Night
This morning at approximately 9:45 am a 911 call came through Snohomish County dispatch from an unknown source stating there was an active shooter at the Marysville Getchell High School campus. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of students and staff, the school was placed on lockdown. Marysville Police Department immediately responded and quickly investigated. Police have indicated there is no credible threat taking place on campus. All calls whether considered legitimate or not are taken seriously and the police remained on campus until all areas were checked and verified and deemed no threat. Parents, please do not go to the school to pick up your child as you will not be allowed access during a lockdown. The lockdown will be cleared shortly. All students and staff are safe. We appreciate the quick response from the Marysville Police Department to help us keep our students, staff, and community safe. School Resource Officers will remain on campus.

Outdoor Activities: Due to the air quality staying at unhealthy levels, outdoor activities for students including elementary school recess and outdoor PE for all grades are to be held indoors where feasible. In addition, outdoor after-school sports practices are to be moved inside where feasible. The status of scheduled after-school sports competitions will be monitored and communicated directly to coaches from the Athletic Department and to parents/guardians through FinalForms. Smoke and Particulates: Many of our buildings are experiencing the smell of smoke indoors. To help alleviate some of the smell, the airflow has been reduced. This will not eliminate the smell of smoke. Each building has filters that are changed on a regular cycle. These filters may help to reduce the particulates indoors. Students and staff who must walk outside between classes and who are in sensitive groups may want to consider wearing a mask to help limit exposure and reduce the inhalation of particulates. Masks are available from your school offices. This current order is in effect through Thursday (October 20) evening.
