The Marysville School District Board of Directors adopted Resolution No. 2023-02;  Reinstatement Educational Programs and Operations Levy at their regular session board meeting held October 17, 2022.

The Resolution provides District officials with the ability to take the necessary steps to place an Educational Programs and Operations Programs Levy on the ballot on February 14, 2023, which provides for one proposition to reinstate the levy known as the E, P, & O.

The next steps for the District include filing the Resolution with the County to place the proposition on the February 14, 2023, ballot. The current E, P, & O levy is set to expire at the end of the 2022 tax year. Levy funds enable the District to support educational programs and operations, including teaching, school supplies, technology, athletics, building maintenance, transportation, and other educational needs. “After two failed attempts to pass a levy last year, this levy is critical to the school district’s operations in support of its students’ learning, physical, and social-emotional health and development,” said Dave Cram, Executive Director of Finance, “without these necessary funds the district will not be able to fund programs such as athletics and other extracurricular activities for students and deeper reductions in staff and other programs district-wide will be necessary,” he added.

The District is in the process of preparing additional facts and information about the levy including the cost to taxpayers to support students and schools, how levy dollars are spent, the impacts of the measure, and where the community can access information about the reinstatement levy. This levy will provide the Marysville and Tulalip communities the opportunity to support their children and public schools.
