RE: House Education Committee Meeting and Visit at the Regional Apprenticeship Pathways Program in Marysville, WA
The Washington State Legislature House Education Committee recently visited the Regional Apprenticeship Pathways Program (RAP) located at Marysville Pilchuck High School in the Marysville School District No. 25. RAP is a Washington state-recognized construction trades pre-apprenticeship program for Snohomish County high school juniors, seniors, and Everett Community College students.
The House Education Committee considers issues relating to kindergarten through twelfth grade (K-12) education and selected the RAP Center location for their meeting to learn more about the program and its success. The committee may consider a future House Bill to expand programs like the RAP to provide more opportunities for students in other areas of the state. Snohomish County Councilman Nate Nehring, and the Marysville School District RAP Program Director Anne Carnell were asked to testify in Olympia in the future to potentially support a proposed House Bill.
A panel of students shared information about the program and the committee was able to see student projects and hands-on work during a tour of the center. “The committee members were highly impressed with the students’ panel presentation,” said Councilman Nehring.
