The Marysville School District Board of Directors took action at their regular session board meeting on November 3, 2021, to select a search firm to facilitate the nationwide search for a superintendent. The Board of Directors interviewed two firms at a special meeting on October 27, 2021, and selected GR Recruiting to carry out the search.
Dr. Kristine McDuffy, GR Recruiting Team member and former longtime educator and superintendent, will lead the search in Marysville. Dr. McDuffy and her team have created a robust timeline and process which kicks off on November 15, 2021, with an online survey that will be accessible through November 29 for students, families, staff, and community members to give input. The input will help in the construction of the profile of what the Marysville School District and the Marysville and Tulalip community are looking for in a new educational leader.
The school district encompasses a total of 72 square miles, which includes most of the City of Marysville, a small portion of the City of Everett, portions of unincorporated Snohomish County, and the Tulalip Indian Reservation. The district serves approximately 11,000 students and their families from varied cultures and backgrounds and is rich in diversity which is celebrated at every opportunity. The district’s Strategic Plan is centered around foundational elements to include our Values, Promise, and Commitment. The plan is a result of our belief that each Marysville and Tulalip student can achieve their full potential in an educational experience that is relevant, challenging, and individualized, and shares common values such as equity, cultural understanding, accountability, and leadership. The design is based on the overarching values of Communication, Accountability, Resilience, Equity, and Student-centered for each student in all schools. This, coupled with leading 22 schools and programs and 1,500 full- and part-time staff provides a unique and fulfilling opportunity for an educational leader to call Marysville and Tulalip home.
