Dear Marshall Families, Friends and Neighbors:
Over the break, the Marysville School District will remove the trees located in the northwest corner of the Marshall Elementary School playground.
There are two main reasons for this. First, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has classified these trees as within the fall zone of nearby structures, including Marshall Elementary and nearby homes. This creates the potential for hazards.
Second, over the last decade, this area has experienced some unsafe transient behavior. By removing the trees, we hope to deter substance abuse in the area and create a safer place for Marshall students, staff and neighbors.
Proceeds from the timber removed from this area will go back into Marshall Elementary for restoration of the playground.
We thank you for your understanding and partnership in keeping our children safe.
If you have any questions, please contact Marysville School District Director of Safety and Security Greg Dennis at 360-965- 0136.
Jason Thompson
Interim Superintendent
