The Marysville School District Superintendent, Dr. Zac Robbins, and Board of Directors Vice President Connor Krebbs received a letter from the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Chris Reykdal, notifying the district that a Financial Oversight Committee will be convened.
Msvl. WA -.The Marysville School District is in financial binding conditions with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) due to its inability to achieve a balanced budget at the beginning of the 2023 - 2024 school year.
Under the binding conditions, OSPI and the Northwest Educational Service District (NWESD) provide guidance and oversight to the school district, which is required to meet a set of binding conditions and report its progress regularly. State Superintendent Reykdal has decided to convene a Financial Oversight Committee in accordance with the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 28A.315.221(Financial Oversight Committee). The committee will review the district's financial situation and recommend a path forward to financial stability.
The Financial Oversight Committee will consist of two OSPI representatives, one representative from an ESD outside the region, one from the NWESD, and one non-voting member of the NWESD.
“The Financial Oversight Committee will provide the district with additional oversight, guidance, and recommendations, and I feel the district will benefit from this action,” says Dr. Robbins, Superintendent. “The district takes the binding conditions very seriously and will continue to work hard to meet each of the required conditions,” he added.
State Superintendent Reykdal will notify the district of the committee members in the near future.
