Dear Families, Staff, and Community Members,
We are approaching the end of the first week of this unprecedented closure, and this community continues to amaze me with its resilience and desire to come together in service of our children and families. We continue to meet regularly with representatives from community organizations including the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, Mayor Nehring, the Marysville Food Bank, Tulalip Tribes and the Marysville Area Pastors’ Association. All are pulling and working together to support the entire community, and that has not been the case in every community. We are fortunate in that regard.
Our staff has been working hard today to get learning enrichment and activities, the next priority on our list, posted over the next several days. By end of day tomorrow, we will have basic learning resources posted to the district website for students and families to use as we further develop our plan moving forward. We also have print materials that will be available online and in-person when lunches are delivered later next week.
We are making computers, including some with built-in internet access, available to families who currently do not have access in their homes. All students in grades 6-12 already receive a district-issued Chromebook. This first opportunity is targeted to families of Kindergarten through 5th grade-age students who either do not have a computing device for students to share at home or for families who don’t have either a computer or internet access. If either of these situations applies to your family, you can receive a device by coming to the district office during our drive up Chromebook deployment. One device will be checked out per family at this time.

We will be holding webinars for parents and students next week to learn to use the resources we are developing. Look for those to start next week.
I continue to be amazed at the outpouring of support for our families and students from staff and community alike. It underscores what our School Board wrote into our strategic plan, Marysville CARES.
Sincerely,
Jason Thompson
